For many, young and old, aging is seen as a frightening, menacing and negative stage of life. Instead, could we not see it as an inspiring, empowering and positive time?
My name is Jeanne Brideau and I am the initiator of this positive aging project. I have the privilege of working with a vibrant, curious and active group of volunteers. I dare to believe that the SeniorAction Team, whilst exploring the domain of aging, contribute to making this stage of life better known and appreciated as one of the untapped riches of our society.
I live my life as a septuagenarian with courage, gratitude, a will to share and an open mind. I am privileged to belong to a group of seniors from all walks of life who share similar values. SeniorAction is a project which has been created to acknowledge and celebrate the initiative, creativity and generosity of this cohort of seniors. It also aims to further our understanding of this latter stage of life, to address the topic of agism and to help bring about a more realistic perception of the elderly: their needs, their aspirations and their unique wisdom.
Widowed at the age of 30, I have raised two wonderful and responsible children. I am a grandmother of two inspiring grandchildren. The last ten years of my parents’ lives were a challenging and enriching period which ignited my interest in the aging process. My career in Education enabled me to grow, to foster growth and to satisfy my love of learning which continues unabated.
Join us at SeniorAction and be part of an ignited senior group who aims for positive aging! You will receive our seasonal newsletters, be able to follow us on Facebook and help create a culture change.
